Overview

Pradeepan has been working with women and adolescent girls from tribal, Dalit, and marginalized communities using a feminist, rights-based, and community-led approach. We believe that women's empowerment and health security are the cornerstones of social justice, gender equality, and democratic development.

Key Interventions

  • Community-Based Health Rights: Under the PACS project, Pradeepan worked on health rights of Dalit, tribal, and backward class women in 120 villages (Athaner, Prabhat Pattan, Amla, and Multai blocks) to improve access to services under the NRHM.
  • Health Action Groups (HAGs): 90 HAGs formed in 120 villages. 1,350 women actively monitored health services. 2,500 women gained a better understanding of the NRHM, maternal health, and child health services.
  • Improved Health Services: Improvements observed in service availability, quality, and staff behaviour at Primary Health Centre, Sub-Health Centre, and Community Health Centre levels.
  • Maternal and Child Health: Coordinated vaccination of pregnant women and infants. 32 women selected as ASHA workers. Continuous support provided to reduce maternal and child mortality.
  • Health Awareness: 50 health camps organised annually. Campaigns conducted on anaemia, malnutrition, tuberculosis, malaria, diarrhoea, de-addiction, and HIV/AIDS.
  • Malnutrition: 730 children supported with health services. 34 severely malnourished children treated at Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres.
  • HIV/AIDS Prevention: Targeted Intervention projects conducted with NACO (2010–2011). Worked with 750 high-risk individuals (FSW and MSM) in Hoshangabad district. AIDS awareness campaigns reached 7,000 villagers. 670 high-risk women connected with safe living practices and government schemes.
  • World AIDS Day: Annual programmes organised to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention, testing, and treatment.
